Welcome to Davis-Morris Funeral Home

Davis-Morris Funeral Home was established in 1924 as Austin-Morris Funeral Home by Mr. Austin, Sam and Roy Morris. The funeral home was located on Depot Street a block behind the present location. Mr. Austin and Roy Morris sold their interest to Ed Davis and it became Davis-Morris. In 1972 Mr. Davis passed away. Melvin Storm and Groner Pitts became partners and continued as Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Operations began at the present location, 800 Center Avenue in 1947. Melvin Storm and Groner Pitts remolded the current location several times. While working at the funeral home, they both lived upstairs with their families. Melvin attended Daniel Baker College and ran the ambulance service while Groner attended Howard Payne College.

Wendell Dodds worked as a high school student and bought into the funeral home in 1973.

In 1982 a large expansion was underway. The 300 seat chapel was added as well as a large arrangement office, selection room, prep room, beauty shop, and 3 car garage, an expansion that took almost a year to complete.

These three dedicated men and a staff of professional men and women operated this funeral home to provide quality service and value to Brown County families.

All three partners have passed away:

Wendell Dodds- 10-22-1938 to 10-08-2000, Groner Pitts- 08-21-1924 to 02-13-2004, Melvin Storm- 06-25-1921 to 04-05-2004
